Growing from Glory to Glory

Growing from Glory to Glory

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 AMP

WHILE I AM HERE - Part II

“Who then is the faithful, thoughtful, and wise servant, whom his master has put in charge of his household to give to the others the food and supplies at the proper time?  Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is that servant whom, when his master comes, he will find so doing.  I solemnly declare to you, he will set him over all his possessions.”  Matthew 24:45-47 AMP

What will Jesus find you doing when he comes?  You might respond, “Well, I go to church.  I pay my tithes.  I pray.”  It is true that going to church, paying tithes, and praying are all good and things God commands us to do, but did you notice that one little phrase in the middle of the verse, “…to give to the others the food and supplies at the proper time?”  Matthew 24:45-46 describes someone who the master feels will be able to run his household while he is gone, someone who has the skills and abilities to make sure all the duties required to make the household run smoothly are consistently carried out so that when the master returns everything will be in working order, the way he would run it if he were there himself.

While I am here I am the person my Master Jesus has decided will be able to make His household run smoothly (His household being His work, ministry, and fellowship with other believers.)  If you are a believer you are the person Jesus has chosen to make His household run according to His will.  Do you feel inadequate to the task?  Maybe you feel that it is the job of the pastor, deacons, evangelists or missionaries?  I know that carrying on the work of Jesus feels like an overwhelming task.  There are many times I feel inadequate even to write what I share in this blog, but I know that God never calls someone to do something without equipping them to do it.

“Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action), so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  2 Timothy 3:16-17 AMP

God has given us the instruction book on how to carry out His will regarding what belongs to Him.  The Bible is fit for every need we and our fellow man have.  Do you struggle with sin?  The Bible shows you how to have power over it.  How about being proficient in everything you do?  God’s Word has the way to do it.  I have found ever since I have made it a strong, unbreakable habit to read His Word every morning I find help to not only face the day but to be a blessing to everyone I meet.  Reading His Word brings me so many ideas for blog articles I can hardly keep up with writing them.  (Aside:  I actually have 24 articles currently in the works!)

Writing articles and sharing the Word with those I meet is how my Master has directed me to care for His household.  What he has for you may be different.  Maybe you are a talented singer?  Could it be that you love to help the elderly?  Children, their teaching of or care could be what stirs in your heart.  In any case, reading and staying grounded in the Word will make your calling “complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped”.

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]”  John 16:33 AMP

In these troubled times we need do not need more Christians caring for Jesus’ “household”, we need ALL believers doing His work!  While I am here, I will do what my Master has called me to do.  Won’t you?

“Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts.”  Colossians 3:16 AMP
