“Be Prepared” is the scout motto and it seems that people are
striving to be prepared for the worst.
Today I read of stores being sold out of toilet paper. Really?
Articles I read went on to list other items grocery stores and chain
stores were sold out of: hand sanitizer,
face-masks (even the kind you use for painting), cleaning/disinfectant
supplies, as well as canned foods. What
gives? Fear. Fear is gripping Americans and this is their
response. Now, do not get me wrong, a
little preparedness is a good thing but when you are driven to purchase
supplies all at one time that would last six months that is when you need to
rethink what is your driving motivation. I praise
God that He is my Rock, my Shield (Psalm 18:2), and my Strength (Habakkuk 3:19). I have entered into His promised Rest
(Hebrews 4) where I “have His Inner Peace“(AMP Bible) and the scary things of
this world do not strike fear in my heart.
Does this mean I sit back and do nothing because God will
deliver me? No, I do what I know is wise
to do: I pray and I wash my hands. My point is that fear does not motivate or
drive me but it does send me to prayer and in my Heavenly Father’s Presence all
the fear just melts away. Have you been
gripped by worry and fear with each newscast you hear? Turn the news off and get alone in
conversation with God. Let His Anointed
Presence fill and overflow you as you read His Word and He puts the world
around you back into His perspective.
Then you too will enter that promised Rest (Hebrews 4) and be
strengthened under the Shield of His protection (Psalm 18:2). Then there will be no room for fear (1 John
4:18).
