Growing from Glory to Glory

Growing from Glory to Glory

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18 AMP

AMAZING LOVE

Have you heard the phrase, “Familiarity breeds contempt”?  Think about it for a moment.  When we are used to hearing about something over and over again we tend to regard it as ordinary.  It looses some of its special meaning.  Lately I have been thinking that the Body of Christ has categorized God’s love in this way.  We have heard His love preached again and again.  Our brains understand that God loves us, but just how deep is that love?  I think it is time the Church woke up to the fullness of God’s love again!

Charles Wesley penned:

He left His Father’s throne above
So free, so infinite His grace—
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam’s helpless race…
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

Can you wrap your mind around that?  The very God who created us, created the earth, created the stars and heavens, and created the angels gave up everything to come live as we do for over 30 years and then He died in our place (Phil. 2:4-8).  Why would our very Creator, Who is all powerful, give up that power to die for us?

“In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins.” 1 John 4:10 AMP

“…We were then by nature children of [God's] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like the rest of mankind.  But God--so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us, even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; He gave us the very life of Christ Himself…”  Eph. 2:3b-5a AMP

God’s love should never be regulated to ordinary.  It is and always will be extraordinary!  It is deep, wide, long, and all encompassing.  Nothing can ever separate us from it (Rom. 8:38-39).

There's the wonder of sunset at evening,
The wonder as sunrise I see;
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is the wonder that God loves me.
